About HRHS

In 2020 the HRHS voted to turn the Cold Springs School over to the City of Portland under the Parks and Recreation Dept. In the summer of 2021 major repairs were done by the city. The HRHS is still responsible for the content and the tours at the school. In 2021 the HRHS voted to take the Portland Museum committee as a subset of the HRHS in nonprofit. In 2021 the City of Portland leased the Portland TN History Museum (Moye Green House) to the Museum committee and the museum had its grand opening Oct 2, 2021. The Museum Committee was appointed by the Mayor. The Museum bank account is kept seperately from the HRHS and it has different officers and meetings and is responsible for the content and gours of the museum. Many of the people in the HRHS are also members of the Museum committee, however.
